I've been a little distracted this morning, avoiding mostly mundane tasks, and went a wandering through Pia Jane Bijkerk's My Heart Wanders project. That lead to this, and I stopped my wandering, happy and grateful to have found a peaceful spot to rest for a while. I think you'll agree it's very easy to get lost in the shapes, forms, textures, colours and details of these beautifully crafted gathered objects of nature.
I really like this - it's interesting how perception of an object changes when it is taken out of context like these images. Usually I find dead animals quite unsettling to come across but in this image I just see beauty. x
ReplyDeleteHi G, yes I agree, it's quite a stirring image. I hesitated for a moment about reposting it...but really believe Mary handles the subject and her use of any animals in the project with respect. x
DeleteI only just came across Pia Jane Bijkerk recently. Anything that gets encourages us to slow and see beauty gets my vote every time. And yes there is a lot of respect in that last image.
ReplyDeleteHi Vanessa, me too! that is on being new to Pia's blog and I love the things that draw us in to the moment. I just popped over to your blog, what a lovely, contemplative space you've created, I'm loving sunflowers right now too! x
DeleteIncredible images - thank you for sharing! x
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much. I am flattered and grateful for your comments. It is always (at least I hope it is) a kind of sacred task to capture, and then to share, the death of a creature no matter how supposedly humble. I frankly found a tremendous amount of beauty and peace in the posture of this lovely bird, despite the violence of its death. I am honored we managed to share a kind of reverence for the moment that was captured in the photo, despite whatever distances of geography and experience that may, in theory, separate us.
ReplyDeleteThank you , Thank you,
Mary Jo Hoffman
Mary, I'm so glad for moments shared across the globe x
